Join George Maestri for an in-depth discussion in this video Templates and selection masks, part of Maya 8 Essential Training.
- [Instructor] In addition to layers,…there are other ways to exclude objects from selection,…and that's using templates and selection masks.…So let's open a really simple scene here,…we're going to go ahead and Open Scene,…and we're going to open Objects_B.mb.…Going to zoom in a little bit here.…And this scene has three simple objects,…it has a polygonal cube,…it has a NURBS sphere, and it has a curve.…So if we wanted to, we could show,…just through our viewport,…we could show different types of objects,…so for example, we didn't want to see NURBS curves…in this window, we can just turn on NURBS Curves,…we can turn on and off.…
We can also do that for surfaces, on and off.…We can also do it for polygons.…So, if you go here to the Show menu,…you can see we have a lot of different objects…that we can show on a per-viewport basis.…In fact, if I hit the space bar and go out here,…I could do it for example in this window,…for example, I can turn off polygons here,…but here it would be visible.…So on a per-viewport basis,…
