Setting constraint limits - Maya Tutorial
From the course: Maya: Dynamic Simulations with Bullet Physics
Setting constraint limits
At this point, our hinge constraint is working. But it has no limits and so the door is able to spin around endlessly. Let's apply some limits to the rotations of that constraint. Select the Constraint node and note that the rotate x value for that constraint is negative 90 degrees rather than positive. Let's open up the Attribute Editor, Ctrl+A. And in that Constraint Shape node, open up Limits and you'll see Angular Constraint Z is set to Free. And we want to choose Limited. And now will Angular Constraint Minimum and Maximum in Z both set to 0, there will be no rotations. So it's not able to actually rotate. Let's set the Angular Constrain Maximum in Z to a value of 160 degrees. And now if we get in close on that Constraint icon, we can see that it actually shows us the range of rotations here. If I set this to a lower value to like 90 degrees, we would see that there's less of a rotational freedom. Set that back to 160. And now if we play our simulation, the door actually only is…
