Setting attribute values with the In-View Editor
- Certain commands and tools in Maya have in-view editors associated with them. This is just a little pop-up window that gives you easy access to some of the common attributes for that command or tool. For example, if we do an Extrude Polygon command, we can access its most common attributes through this in-view editor. I'll just create a polygon plane as a test object. Go to the Create menu and choose Polygon Primitives... Plane. Zoom in a little bit with the mouse wheel. I'll go into Component mode, right-click and choose Face component mode. Just click on a face or two maybe hold down shift and add a few. And then in the Modeling menu set, I'll go to Edit Mesh, Components... Extrude and click on Extrude. And we have our familiar extrude manipulator from earlier versions of Maya and additionally now, we have this pop-up in-view editor. We can move that around and we can make adjustments here.
