- [George] Hi, I'm George Mainstreet. Today, we're going to look at Maya's new Rivet command, and this is new as of Maya 2020. And this is a great way to attach objects to deforming geometry. In some ways, it's similar to UV pen, but it's a lot easier to use. So let's take a look at how this works. So here I have a scene with a character that's animating and deforming, and let's say... our director decides, you know what, the character needs a hat in the middle of the scene. So here we have our hat, but we need to attach it to the character so that it follows him through the scene. well, we can do that by using the Rivet command. So, under our Rigging Toolkit under Constraint, we have Rivet. Now this is a very simple tool. It has basically no options here. You can see it's one of the few tools without options.
