In this video, George rigs a simple humanoid skeleton very quickly using Maya’s Setup Arm, Foot, and Back plugins from the Bonus Tools menu. He shows how to automatically create stretchy arms and legs, and then rigs the hips and shoulders to create a basic rig in only a few minutes.
- [George] Hi, I'm George Maestri, and today we're going…to take a look at how to create a very quick rig using…Maya's bonus tools.…Now this will use the bonus tools that you need to download…separately, so, if you don't have them, go ahead…and do that now.…And once you do, you'll find them under this menu,…bonus tools, and you should see a bunch of rigging tools,…and that's what we're going to be using.…So I have a simple humanoid skeleton here.…And we're going to use these rigging tools to help us…add some controls to this.…
So I'm going to work my way from the bottom up.…So, if you notice here, under rigging here,…let's go ahead and just tear this menu off.…We've got a bunch of stuff here, some of it's for skimming,…but the ones we're looking at are for control.…So we want to set up our arm, our foot and our back.…And then, in addition to that, we're going to…add in some stretchy IK.…So the first thing I'm going to do is set up my foot.…In order for these to work, you need to select the joints…in a very specific order.…
