Join Ryan Kittleson for an in-depth discussion in this video Preparing to project detail, part of Digital Creature Creation in ZBrush, Photoshop, and Maya.
Now, we've got two models;…the original high detailed sculpt in ZBrush and this low detailed model with…proper topology in Maya.…What we need to do now is get the model into ZBrush and put all of that detail…from the sculpt onto it.…ZBrush has a feature made just for this kind of task called Projection.…It takes one mesh and shrink- wraps it around another mesh.…We'll use this to transfer detail from the sculpt to this model.…So we've got our model open in Maya.…Let's export this to ZBrush using OBJs again instead of GoZ just for practice.…
Make sure you've got your model selected, and you want to make sure you've…deleted all history first.…So go to Edit > Delete by Type > History.…Now go to File > Export Selection with Options.…Now, I want to change the File type to OBJ, however, there is one thing you have to do first.…By default, Maya does not include the OBJ Exporter in your Export options.…So let's Cancel and set that up.…Go to Window > Settings/ Preferences > Plug-in Manager.…Now you need to scroll down till you find objExport.…
