Join David Mattingly for an in-depth discussion in this video Positioning the next four boxes, part of Digital Matte Painting 5: Camera Projection in Maya.
…Positioning that first box was a lot of work and I bet you're…thinking, geez Louise, I hope all the geometry isn't that hard to place.…Well, you're in luck, everything after this first box is…easier, just so long as the first box was placed correctly.…Unfortunately if the first box is not lined up correctly,…all the ones that come after it will also be wrong.…So it's worth taking the time to get the first…one just right.…To create the next level up on the castle,…press Cmd or Ctrl+D to duplicate the first box.…
And then move it up, and scale it down to match the middle wall.…Once again, make sure that there's enough…geometry to catch everything on that middle wall…and that the corner of the wall is lined up with the corner of the box.…While lining…up the box, avoid moving on the y-axis since that will move the box off the…center of the castle wall. Duplicate it again and move it up.…Scale it down to match the top wall of the castle…and line up the corner with the corner of the castle.…
That's good enough.…Before you add more geometry go into your perspective view and take a look…
