With our image plane set back to 1000 and our grid enlarged and set to have enough divisions, we're now ready to position the grid to match the horizon in our painting. With your cursor in the middle of the view port, option or alt middle mouse button drag down You're now looking over the top of the grid and it looks like a plane going back in space rather than a flat line. Then option or alt middle mouse button, pull down again. The grid is looking good but the horizon line on the grid is not lining up with the horizon line on the painting.
To do that, you'll need to rotate the grid down. Option or Alt left mouse button, an drag up in the view-port to rotate the view down. Rotate the grid down so that the back of the grid matches the horizon in the painting. The horizon an the grid now match. Then option or alt middle mouse button, pull down a few more times. By pulling down, you're raising the camera above ther grid. There's no specific height above the grid it has to be. But get your viewpoint somewhat matching what you see here.
After raising the camera up so that your view similar to this, double check that the horizon is still rotated to match the painting. You may need to do some subtle rotations to get it perfectly aligned. Let's go back into the perspective view. You can get a better idea of how this is laid out from this angle. Select the projection cam camera. It's still very tiny, but it's somewhere near the middle of the view port. Navigate to an angle where you can see how high the camera is above the grid. If you click on the far-left projection cam tab in the attribute editor, you can see the camera is about ten units above the grid in the Y-axis.
Now we have enough space to set up our scene between the front of the camera and the image plane. In the next lesson, we'll set the Aspect Ratio for our Projection Cam, so that it knows what size our projected images will be.
