Painting textures in Photoshop 3D

If you have a recent version of Photoshop, it will also have 3D capabilities, and this might be another way for you to paint textures for your characters. So let me show you some of the basics of how to get a character out of Maya and into Photoshop 3D. So the first thing we need to do is export the character in a format that Photoshop understands, and probably the easiest format is OBJ. So let's go ahead and make sure that we have the OBJ exporter turned on. By default, it's not turned on to Maya, so we just need to double check. So we're going to go into Windows, Settings, Preferences, Plugin Manager, and you're going to scroll down until you find OBJexport.mil, and make sure that loaded is checked. Now, if you want this to load up every time you start Maya, just click on autoload. Now, once that's set up, we can export our model.
