Join George Maestri for an in-depth discussion in this video Opening and closing curves and surfaces, part of Maya 2015 Essential Training.
…Now there times when you draw a curve or…create a surface and you may want to close it.…So we have tools that allow us to open both curves and surfaces.…So let's draw a simple curve.…I'm going to go into my top view port here, and let's go create CV curve.…So I'm going to basically sketch out…something resembling a U-shape or, something like that.…And as you can see, by default when you create a curve, it is always…open, in other words there's always a gap between the start and the end point.…
So I have these control vertices here and I…can't just snap that over that and have it closed.…I need to do a separate operation.…So we go back into Object Mode here, select our…curve, and under Edit Curves we have Open and Close Curves.…And so when I close it.…There it goes, it closes, so I have like, a control vertices, I…have a closed curve, and if I want, I can open it again.…Again, I need to be into object mode here, so it's…like Object Mode, Open Curve, Close, so it's basically just a toggle.…
