Open and close curves and surfaces

- [Instructor] As you start working with NURBS curves and surfaces, you'll need to understand the concept of an open or closed curve or surface. So let's go ahead and take a look at this, and we're going to start simple. We're going to start with curves. So I'm going to create a simple CV curve. And I'm going to hop out. Let's go into my top viewport here, and I'm going to draw something that roughly resembles a circle and then when I get to the top here, your instinct is just to click on this vertex, but in Maya, that won't close it. Now it will in many other drawing packages, but not in Maya. So what you have to do is you have to explicitly tell Maya that the curve or the surface is open or closed. So I'm going to hit Enter here, and notice how we have this gap at the top of this curve. So I want to close that up. Now I can do that using the Curves menu. So if we go into Curves, you'll see that we have an option here that says Open/Close. So if I toggle it once, it closes it. If I…
