Modeling the hub
The last major detail to do on the wheel is the hub with these three protruding grips. Now, this object isn't as complicated as the rim, so I'm not going to bother with making a small section of it, and then mirroring it, and rotating it, and duplicating it. Let's just try to make it all in one go. So, back into Maya. Let's make a polygon pipe. And, what that's going to be for is for this type of ring shape right here. All right, so back in Maya, what we want do is go into our side view. And, let's make a new polygon pipe. I want to hold down X, so that it snaps to the center of the grid. And, I'm just going to draw something out, and we can always adjust the shape later. And then, let's give it a height, something like that, and then its thickness. And, don't worry if it's exact or not. So, let's see how this compares to our photo. All right, this is pretty close. I think I might want to shrink it just a little bit.
