Model against reference

- [Narrator] With our reference in place, we can now start to model. Now typically in Maya we'll start with a primitive object and then reshape that to the reference and then we'll start to use more and more tools to refine that shape. Now for this model here, I want to model just half of it. Now this model is symmetrical so I'm just going to work on one side of it and then we're going to mirror that over later to create the other side, and that way both sides will be identical. So the first thing I want to do is create a primitive. Now when I create a primitive, I probably should be in an orthographic view port, so I'm going to hit my space bar, go out to my fore view, and then let's go into a, our front view. So I'm going to draw a box that represents the lower portion of this arm here. And so we're going to do Create, Polygon Primitives, Cube, and I want to make sure interactive creation is turned on.
