Making the windshield frame
So we've got a few parts of the windshield frame that need to conform exactly to the windshield glass. It would be a lot of work to try and fit new objects to the glass, so we're going to use the existing model as a base to start from. So let's go into our Maya scene. We've already got the glass created, but we want to create new objects based off the glass. So what I'm going to do is hit Ctrl+D to duplicate it and then let's hide the duplicate. So let's go to Display>Hide>Hide Selection. So now let's start building the window frame off of this piece. Now let's look at the reference again. So basically the window frame is just this metal frame that goes all the way around the glass. So we can create this by starting off and selecting the polygons that go all the way around the outside. So let's turn off Smooth Preview so we can see this more easily. Okay, so I'm going to start selecting some of these polygons around. So let's select this one here in the middle and now I'm just going…
