Join George Maestri for an in-depth discussion in this video How to use the exercise files, part of Maya 2018 New Features.
- [Instructor] If you have access to the exercise files that accompany this course, go ahead and download them now, and place the exercise folders on your desktop. Now the exercise folders is basically a Maya project, so all of your scenes will be in the Scenes folder. Now when you first start up Maya, go ahead under File, Set Project, and find that Exercise Files folder, and hit Set, and that will set all of the pathing that you need to do this course.
Now since this is a new features course, it may make sense to turn on the highlights for the new features. So if we go into Windows, Settings Preferences, Preferences, under Interface, we can turn on or off this tab here which says Highlight what's new in this release. And if we hit Save, we'll see that some of these menu options will show up and highlight in green. Now this course is going to go over the major features of the software that have changed, but anything that has changed, even in the slightest way, may show up as green.
So if you see a lot of green menu items, that doesn't mean that they're all new features, it means that they've been changed just subtlely. So hopefully, we'll be able to cover all the new features in this release. And go ahead and make sure that you set your project before we get started with the course.
