In this video Scott shows you how to animate type using Mash and introduces the concept of Mash network blending. Scott shows you how to create and properly setup type in Maya for use with Mash. Scott then shows you how to procedurally animate the type geometry using Mash nodes. Then we continue on to create an alternate Mash network and Scott shows you how to using the Mash Merge node to control the type movement by crossfading between two different Mash networks.
- [Voiceover] In this video we're gonna take a look…at another way to set up a MASH base type animation…and this time we'll also introduce the idea…of MASH network blending, which basically allows you…to create two different MASH networks…and crossfade between them…so you can have different kinds of behavior…and instead of having to create it all and keyframe it all…with differences within one MASH network,…you can create two things that are totally separate…and just do a simple crossfade between them.…It's really nice.…So let's create some type, Create, Type,…let's go to our type menu here.…
I'm gonna type the word universe this time.…Let's do a center alignment.…So I'm gonna pick this font I like on this machine.…There we go, whatever you'd like.…Okay and so we want to just do a few things…under the Geometry tab to clean up the geometry.…I'm gonna change the curve resolution…under the mesh settings to eight…and I'm gonna filter colinear points,…which is gonna get rid of points near each other.…The other thing we want to do is we want to open up…
