In this video, George shows how to manage Arnold’s sampling and ray-tracing settings to get high-quality renders at faster speeds. He goes over the basics of sampling and how they contribute to quality and render speed, and then goes on to ray tracing, which creates realistic effects such as reflections.
- [George] Hi, I'm George Maestri and today we're going to…take a look at the Arnold Renderer for Maya 2017.…Now, if you've been a Maya user for a while…you'll know that everything's changed with Maya 2017…and now we have Arnold.…And so, there's been a lot of confusion…as to how to best use Arnold.…So I'm going to go through just some of the basic render…settings of Arnold and just show you how to get the most…out of the renderer and how to get a clean render…without too much overhead.…
Now here we have a basic scene,…and if I want I can go into my Render Settings.…And I've got under Arnold Renderer,…I've got all the defaults applied.…Now this particular render will take a little bit of time,…it just depends on what flavor of system you have.…But I'm just going to go ahead and do a quick render here.…So this may take just a few minutes.…And there's our render.…So as you can see, we have a fairly good render…with the default settings.…But if we want, we can adjust these…to actually make it render faster,…or give it better quality where we need it.…
