Join George Maestri for an in-depth discussion in this video Extruding along a path, part of Maya 2015 Essential Training.
…Another way to use the extrude tool on Maya is, to extrude along a path.…Now ,path is typically a curve, and…we really haven't gotten around to curves yet.…That'll happen a little bit later in the title.…But, let's just go ahead and use this with a pre-existing curve.…So, here i have a simple cylinder, which will eventually turn into a coffee cup.…We also have a curve that's in the scene, so i…can use this to create the handle for the coffee cup.…
So, I'm going to go ahead and select the cylinder, go into…phase mode and select this phase here that's directly opposite that curve.…Now, if i didn't extrude at this point, Maya…wouldn't know that the curve is involved in the equation.…So, I have to shift, select that curve and then once I do, once I have a face and a…curve selected or faces and a curve selected, I can do edit, mesh, extrude.…And, it gives me this extrude here.…Now, the problem here is that, because this is a…curve, it needs a lot more divisions to make this work.…
So, all I have to do here is, just dial up my number…
