Exporting models with the Game Exporter
- Exporting to game engines just got a little bit easier in Maya 2016 with the game exporter dialogue. This is essentially a stripped-down version of the FBX export options, with a few other bells and whistles added. You can save out either a model, or animation clips simply and easily without fussing too much over all the many FBX parameters. I've got a scene here of some Paint FX plants and I wanna export this. I have to prep it in order to export to FBX. In the case of Paint FX, they have to be converted to polygons, and I've already done that. Additionally, FBX doesn't recognize procedural textures or any fancy shading networks. You'll need to bake all of your textures out to bitmaps and I've done that already using the convert to file texture command in the hypershade.
