- When it comes to adding…a photographic depth of field effect to our renders…there are, in fact, a number of options…available to us whilst working with…the mental ray engine in Maya.…In this video, we're going to focus…on the main UI controls available…for creating genuine in-scene depth of field…whilst rendering with a Maya camera.…As we already have a dedicated depth of field camera…positioned in the scene,…let's jump into that by coming to the panels menu…and from the perspective flyout…choosing the cam_dlf option.…As we need access to our camera's control parameters,…let's make certain that it is selected,…and then over in the attribute editor…take a look at the depth of field controls…found natural enough in the depth of field roll out.…
As you can see, the depth of field control mechanisms…in mental ray really couldn't be simpler.…We have a check box to enable and disable the effect…which we, of course, want enabled for this exercise.…We have a focus distance that sets the point of focus…in the scene, in other words, the portion…
