Join George Maestri for an in-depth discussion in this video Creating and applying maps, part of Maya 2015 Essential Training.
…Now let's go beyond simple colors and…start adding textures to our materials in Maya.…So we're going to start off with a simple object here.…I'm just going to start off with a simple NURBS sphere.…So I'm going to go to my shelf here and just select NURBS sphere.…And just create a very simple sphere.…And now let's go ahead and apply material to it.…I'm going to select my object.…And then, I'm just going to use my rendering shelf and…let's go ahead and add a blend material to it.…So when I do the Attribute editor comes up and if…we scroll over here you'll see we have a Blend material applied.…
Now if I want I can change the color of…this by using the slider or by using the color picker.…But if I wanted it to be more than just a solid color, I need to add a texture.…And we can do that over here using this little checkerboard.…And you'll notice that these little checkerboard buttons are…available to almost all of these parameters in the material.…We're going to focus on color right now.…So I'm just going to go ahead and select this button and click on it.…
