(? lynda.com jingle ?) - [Voiceover] Welcome to Creating Hair with Maya nHair. My name is Aaron F. Ross, it's my pleasure to share with you the techniques for creating, styling, animating, and renduring nHair. The N stands for nucleus which is Maya's advanced dynamics engine, that also supports cloth an particles. In this course we will cover the following topics, loading the preset examples, preparing a polygon mesh for nHair, controlling dynamic properties such as stretch and bend, adjusting forces such as mass and drag, clumping, curling, and twisting hair, shading hair, including color, translucency, and specular highlights, trimming and extending hair, using start curves to design hair styles, cashing simulations and rendering in the Maya software and Mental Ray renderers.
Maya nHair is a powerful set of tools to adding realism to animated characters. It's integration with Nucleus is an added value compared to Maya's stand alone classic hair system. Nucleus makes hair relatively fast to simulate, and straight forward to set up. Let's explore the capabilities of nHair.
1. Getting Started with nHair
2. Defining hairSystem Attributes
3. Working with Follicles
4. Styling nHair
5. Rendering nHair
