Create a stencil with layered shaders

- [Instructor] Hi, I'm George Maestri, and today we're going to take a look at layered shaders. And specifically, we're going to create a stencil on a piece of glass. And so, what this does is allows you to create multiple materials, apply them to an object, and then mix them using either masks or transparency. So, let's take a look at how this works. So, I've got this simple bottle in the scene here, and I already have a glass material created for this. Now, when I render that it will look something like this. So, I'm not going to go through the process of rendering it, but as you can see, it's basically just a glass bottle. Now, what we need to do is create what's called a layered shader, and that will allow me to add in a second material. So, let's go into our hyper shade. Now, in my hyper shade, you can see I have this glass material. And if I graph it, you can see it's very simple. It's really just a standard Arnold material attached to a shading group.
