Color-managing Physical Sun and Sky
- Let's see how Physical Sun and Sky is different in Maya 2016. To do that we need to disable the legacy render settings that we enabled previously. Go into Windows, Settings/Preferences, Preferences and under Settings, Rendering, Mental Ray Preferences, disable Use Legacy Render Settings. That means we'll go back to the Maya 2016 render settings. Click Save, and you'll need to exit and restart Maya. After restarting Maya, we can load the scene file for this movie. File, Open Scene, 03_07_color_manage_physical_sun. When the scene is loaded, of course, we want to make sure that our lights are turned off so disable the Lights layer, and go into the Render settings once again. Now we've got the new Mental Ray Settings. To add Physical Sun and Sky, we will go to the Scene tab, and you'll see Physical Sun and Sky. There's also a switch here that says Emit Environment Light. We do want that to be on, and we want to click to create the Physical Sun and Sky system. Pretty much everything is…
