Bump and displacement mapping in Arnold

- [Instructor] Hi, I'm George Mastry and today we're going to take a look at displacement mapping in Arnold. Now the process for this is a little bit different than other renderers, so I thought I'd go through the process just so you know how to do proper displacements. Now this scene has three objects here. We have just a simple chair, we have an edging around a floor and the floor is basically just a simple polygonal plane, in fact if I were to move that up you'd see it's just a simple object here with all four edges. So it's a very very basic piece of geometry. Now we want to add a brick material to that floor, so we're going to use two image files here. We're going to have a bricks.jpeg file, which is the color channel. And then for the displacement we're going to use bricks_bump which is essentially a black and white version of that file and so the dark colors will be the lower portions of the displacement and the lighter colors will be further forward.
