- [Instructor] Sculpting and changing the shape of an object is one way to model, but there are many times when we'll need to add detail to an object. Now, when we model with polygons, there are several ways to do this. And let's show you some of the more popular ways. I'm going to start off with a box. And we're going to take a look at a function called extrude, which is probably one of the more popular ways to add detail to a polygonal model. Now with extrude, all we have to do is select a face, a vertex or an edge, and I'm going to go ahead and start with a face here, and then just extrude. Now, you're extrude function will depend on your software, but basically it will do something like this. And this allows us to extrude that face away from the surface, or if we want, we can extrude that face into the surface to create a cavity. Now, extrudes usually work with more than one face.
