Bake normal maps in Turtle
- [George] Hi, I'm George Maestri, and today we're going to take a look at how to bake textures using Turtle. Now, Turtle is a renderer that comes with Maya. It's also a baking engine. So what we're going to do is do some normal map baking, and we're going to take the normals from this object, which is a high resolution object and we're going to project them onto this object so that way we can render it, make it look like it's bumpy without having to have the detail. So, we're going to start off by making sure that we have Turtle loaded. So, we're going to go into Windows, Settings/Preferences, Plug-in Manager, and let's just scroll down until we find Turtle.mll. We want to make sure it's Loaded, and if you want to use it all the time, you can auto-load it. So now that Turtle is loaded, we can open up our Render Settings window, and we can change our renderer to Turtle. And when we do that this second tab changes, and we can hop over there. Now like I said, Turtle is a renderer, but…
