Join George Maestri for an in-depth discussion in this video Applying UV mapping, part of Maya 2015 Essential Training.
…Mapping polygonal objects is a little bit different than mapping NERBS objects.…In polygonal objects the mapping is baked in on a per polygon basis.…So, we can map a polygon at a time or an object at a time.…So let's apply some texture maps to our astronaut.…I've got some layers here.…So let's go ahead and turn those off.…And right here, I have my head layer.…And I'm going to keep my head layer active.…So I'm going to select the head here.…
And then, let's just zoom in so we can see it.…And let's go ahead and apply a texture for his face.…So, I'm going to select a lambert material and apply it.…We should have Lambert 8 and we can certainly rename that.…Let's rename that face.…And in the color channel, I'm going to go ahead and input a bit map.…So, in that I'm going to select a file.…And that file is going to be a file called Face.jpg.…Open that up, you can see that it immediately maps to…my head, but you can see that it's not mapping properly.…
Now, we can change this by forcing the mapping to be what we want.…
