Manipulate a single input value for an expression
- [Instructor] Entering an expression or equation into Mathematica lets you calculate a result or visualize data. You can also create an interactive notebook element that calculates and displays the results of values you or your users input. In this movie, I'll show you how to create controls you can manipulate to enter and display your values. I've created a blank Mathematica notebook, so I need to enter in an expression that I can manipulate. I'll start by typing the Manipulate keyword. That's M-a-n-i-p-u-l-a-t-e. Now I need to put in the element that I will be manipulating, so I'll type a left square bracket, the keyword that I'll use is Plot, so I'll be creating a graph that I can work with. Then another left square bracket, and next I want to enter the expression that will define the graph, so I'll have x raised to the third power, minus a, a space, x to the second power, plus a.
