Assign values to variables
- [Voiceover] Mathematica makes it possible for you to do some very interesting analyses on your data. If you're creating a long string of calculations, then you might want to retain one or more values you calculate by assigning them to a variable. Then, instead of trying to identify the output line, that contains the information you want to use, you can just refer back to the variable name, in future calculations. I have started a blank Mathematica notebook, and let's say that I want to give a variable a name. Variables can have pretty much any name you want to give them, but they may not being with a number, or contain spaces. And also they can't duplicate any keywords that are already used within the language. So let's say that I want to assign the value of 0.19, to a variable named rate. For that, I will type rate, and then equals 0.19, and press Shift + Enter, and I get my output, and now the value of 0.19, is assigned to a variable named rate. If I want to multiply a value by…
