- [Instructor] I got a confession to make,…I am a total font nerd.…I love typography.…I'll spend an hour oohing and aahing over leading…and true descenders and serifs.…And if you don't know what any of those mean…that is perfectly okay,…but at last count I had just under…600 different font families on my laptop.…But for data visualization I resist the urge…to go crazy with type.…Fonts should be simple when it comes to data visualization…and they shouldn't get in the way.…A little too much when it comes to type…can make your data a lot harder to read.…
Bauhaus, the typeface I'm using for my numbers here,…is a really sexy font,…but I want my data to be sexy, not my type.…Also, in this chart I'm using three different typefaces,…that creates a whole separate set of problems.…So I'm going to change this to a single font family, Cambria.…And you can see, this already becomes…a little bit easier to read.…There's some little touches I can add,…like making the title larger,…but the consistency and the simplicity of this typeface…
