Tough questions
- Whenever we answer a question, we tend to think we've solved the problem. It's a natural stopping point in the exploration of new ideas. But when it comes to brainstorming, this is the opposite of what we want. A powerful technique to force you or your team to explore problems in depth is through asking tough questions. When you ask tough questions, you'll find things you haven't considered previously and begin to explore things from a new perspective. I'll explain this technique as if you'll be doing it with a group, but you can take the core elements out of it and apply them to individual ideation as well. This concept comes from the book, "Change Your Questions, Change Your Life" and it's also referenced in a book titled "Questioning Technique Pocketbook."
