- [Kristy] I'm Kristy Dalton, and this is the Social Media in Government course. I created my first government social media profiles in 2008, and I've been teaching best practices to public sector agencies ever since. If you are a government employee who is new to using social media for your agency, or if your social media experience is with small business and you need to learn its application to government, then this course has you covered.
I'll walk you through key aspects of establishing and maintaining an effective social media program for your agency. First we'll lay a solid foundation focusing on social media policy and management. Trust me, these are important steps that you just can't skip. Throughout the course, I'll be covering issues of particular interest to government entities, such as social media records retention and government-specific terms of service.
We'll also touch on social media strategy recommendations for government agencies. You'll learn strategy for specific platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and more. We have a lot to cover, so let's get started.
