- Companies spend a lot of time and money to obtain new customers but what you may not know is that it pays to keep them because existing customers spend more than new customers, so isn't it surprising that companies don't put more effort into retaining their current customers? Keeping your customers engaged and loyal is a great to way to sustain your business over the long term. I'd like to share with you how I helped drive customer loyalty and advocacy for a hotel brand. We created a special rewards club for select customers. We enhanced the reward system so that points multiply once the customer exceeds a certain number of hotel nights per year. We targeted frequent business travelers because for them, the number they need to exceed to receive the bonus points is attainable so it keeps them interested.
