Reputation management vs. PR and SEO

- What is the difference between reputation management and PR or SEO? Reputation management is internally monitoring the response to your brand and controlling the external response to any issues that may arise, and amplifying any positive brand stories. Negative content can have a direct effect on your brand's reputation. A study by Forbes revealed that one negative article in an online search, can result in a 22% loss in business. So reputation management is responding to positive or negative content about your brand. On the other hand, PR and SEO are both external facing tools that you use for proactive, not responsive, reputation building. PR, or public relations, includes press and media outreach. SEO, or search engine optimization, includes strategies and tactics to help you rank higher on search engines such as Google. You need both reputation management and PR or SEO, to make sure that you have a positive brand image.
