Practicing a skill
From the course: Using Humor In Training to Engage Your Audience
Practicing a skill
- I want to start with a quick activity. I'll mirror this for you. On your right hand point forward and on your left hand give a thumbs up. And now just switch the two. And you can switch back and forth. Back and forth. Are you struggling? Do you have finger guns or maybe just a rock? You should have a thumb up and just a finger out. Why is it so hard? I mean, you've been told what to do. But you know there's a big difference between knowledge and competence. If you want people to actually improve what they do, it's not enough to tell them how to do it. You have to help them practice the skills you're talking about. But if you want your participants to truly engage in the practice, the practice has to be fun. If you're learning to play guitar, you don't want to play scales forever. You want to jump into, love, love me do. You know I love you. So please help participants build skill by facilitating joy…
