- [Instructor] Backlinks and internal links are really important for your SEO. They can help to attribute authority to web pages and websites. They can also allow search engines to discover new content. This in turn can improve user experience on your website. But backlinks and internal links are only useful if they are actually working. A broken link is a link that does not take users to the destination it's intended to. This obviously does not attribute any of the SEO benefits and can actually harm your SEO. You may have seen 404 error pages on certain websites. This is an example of an error page on Amazon. If a link does not work that you've clicked on on Amazon then it might take you to a page like this. You can also see any errors within Google Search Console and an error page might be a page that is showing a 404.
