Forced ranking
- When it comes time to prioritize, you'll need agreement on a ranked list of items. Forced ranking is an activity where you, well, force the group to make difficult decisions and rank each item relative to the others. Whenever you need a clear prioritized list, forced ranking is a helpful technique. You'll need about 45 minutes to run this activity successfully. To start you'll need two things, an unranked list of items, and the criteria for ranking them. Your criteria needs to be incredibly clear. For example, if you're looking at product features, you might have your criteria set as most important features for Persona A. You'll start by writing down the criteria, and below that write "Most Impact." From here you'll list the ideas. And you want to keep that list to under 10 items. Below that, or elsewhere, list the criteria again, but this time, write "Most Effort," and then list those same ideas. Now, each…
