- Hi, I'm Anson Alexander, author and marketing specialist. I'd like to give you a couple of strategies that you can use to brainstorm content ideas for your Instagram account. If you have a product, it's a good idea to post photos of your product, people using your product, and creative ways in which it's used. But if you have a service, things can be a bit more abstract. Try listing all of the services that you offer and then create a second list of all of the benefits that those services provide.
It's also important to think about how people benefit from your service the most. Let's say you're a plumber, photos of you doing plumbing work may not be the most glamorous Instagram photos, but why do people need a plumber? Well, it's probably to have running water. People really like water, they need water, so now we open ourselves up to showing all of the different ways that people use and enjoy water. So you could post photos of somebody pouring a nice cold glass of water on a hot summer day, or the family outside in the yard running through the sprinkler.
As you can see, it's not just about the work that you do, it's about the result and how it positively impacts your customer. Here's another approach, I have a friend who owns a landscaping company. He posts photos of all of the work that he does, waterfalls, walkways, gardens, flower beds, all of these beautiful landscaping designs. This is the type of account that you would follow even if you're not looking to get landscaping done, just because the photos are so gorgeous. Now I need a landscaper, who am I going to call? I bet you can guess.
So remember, be creative, aspirational and personal. Capture those special moments and think about all of the ways that your product or service helps your customers, and show that on Instagram.
