Determine when to use a redirect page
- After reviewing your websites architecture and existing content or as a part of the website redesign process. You may realize that some pages will need to be changed or removed. This means you may need to redirect or not. Let's cover the process you'll go through to figure that out. First, I want to talk about the types of redirects. What you would be choosing between is a 301 or permanent redirect and a 302 or temporary redirect. Most of the time you're using a 301 redirect as the URL is permanently changed. 302 redirects are used less but have their place. So for example, if you have a promotion that's only available certain times of the year. And in the times when it isn't available, perhaps you want to redirect to another promotion.
