Bubbles
- Bubbles or bubbling is a technique by which participants put their ideas into eight bubbles, and then expand on that idea further. The concept comes from Brian Cole Miller's book, "Quick Brainstorming Activities for Busy Managers." The approach allows you to have a structured method of ideation that's also very visual. It's similar to brain-writing, but with a narrowed focus and active group think. For this technique, you'll need a large board and a marker. Set aside 30 minutes for a small group of five to 10, and an hour for a group of 11 to 20. Start by drawing a grid of nine circles. So you'll have three rows of three empty circles, or bubbles. Now state your goal in the form of a question and write it in the center of that bubble grid. Record the first eight answers into the surrounding bubbles.
