Following up with every person you've spoken with after an interview is essential to highlight your ability to follow through and to express your continued interest in a role. Here are a few unique ways of following up after an interview for a marketing position.
- [Instructor] The interview is over,…but you're not done expressing…your interest in the position.…It's time to craft a thank you note…to your primary point of contact…that's hiring for the role to thank them…and reinforce what you presented earlier.…Send them a thank you over email…no earlier than three hours after the interview,…and no later than five P.M. the next day.…It should be personalized to what was discussed…in the interview, as sharing a generic,…boring, template email will be obvious…and knock you out of the running for the role.…
The email should definitely touch…on the following points to resonate with the recipient:…Start by addressing them by name,…thanking them for bringing you in,…and spending the time to explain the role and the company.…Next, reference what you learned from the discussion…with the person you're emailing,…and in general, from your conversations with others.…After that, it's time to express why you'd like the role,…and what value you can bring to the position…that's unique to your perspective and experience.…
