Connecting to a Mac file share
From the course: Setting Up a Small-Office Network
Connecting to a Mac file share
Let's look at a quick demonstration of accessing a Macintosh file share from a Windows client. Here in Windows I've opened up file explorer and I'll type in slash slash and then the IP address of the Mac. When I press enter it shows me a list of the different shares available to me. You may get prompted for a user name and password before you see this. If you do, it's your Macintosh user name and password it's asking for. Then I'll open up one of these shares. No files in there yet, but I can create one easily. So as you see, it's quite easy to access an SMB share that's running on a Macintosh computer from a Windows client.
