This video shows how to run basic system updates for macOS. Apple publishes updates that include new features and fixes for bugs or security problems on a regular basis. It's important to understand how the updating process works so you can keep Mojave updated and secure.
- [Instructor] Apple is constantly…publishing updates to macOS.…These updates add features and fix problems…that may be discovered in the future.…Now, when you upgrade from one major version…of macOS to another, like when you upgrade from macOS…High Sierra to Mojave, that is a different thing.…Updates are smaller and less intrusive,…but they can be very important…for keeping your computer secure.…At some point you may see a notification pop up…on your screen letting you know that updates are available.…You can dismiss that notification,…or if you have time, you can follow…the prompts and allow the computer to update,…but you can also check for updates manually,…and be aware, this process is very…different from previous versions of macOS.…
We'll do this from System Preferences.…So, I'll go to the main system menu,…then to System Preferences, and when you open…System Preferences, if there are updates available…it will not start on this main category page.…Instead, it will open directly to the updates page,…a way to prompt you to run your updates.…
