Spotlight is a tool for finding files on your hard drive. You can search for files according to their names, of course. But, you can also search for words contained inside of files. This movie will introduce the Spotlight tool so you can start searching and finding files quickly.
- [Instructor] I think it's very important to learn…how to use Finder properly and get all of your files…organized in folders, so you know where to find them…when you need them.…But realistically, you're not gonna always remember…where certain files are, or even what the names…of those files are.…So in this movie, I wanna talk about Spotlight,…which is a tool for searching for files…on your computer, but also for searching out content…online as well.…There are two ways you can access Spotlight.…One would be to click on the magnifying glass…up in the top right corner of your screen…and that opens up the Spotlight search window.…
Click it again and that goes away.…The other way is to use a keyboard shortcut,…which is actually my preference 'cause it's a lot faster.…All you need to do is hold the command key on your keyboard,…then tap the space bar, and it opens up…the Spotlight search field.…So from here, you can just type in…whatever you're searching for.…I'm gonna start by searching for a single word.…I'm gonna search for the word obstacle,…
