Not all applications can be found on the App Store. In this movie, we'll see how to install new software from a CD or downloaded from the web. We'll learn about disk images, which are usually used for downloading applications from a webpage.
- [Narrator] The App Store is pretty useful,…but it does not have every program…that you might want to install on your computer,…so there are other ways to get new software.…You might be surprised to hear that…installing an application from a CD…is almost exactly the same as installing software…downloaded from the web.…That's because of something called a disc image,…which is really important to know,…so we're gonna see that in this movie.…Now first, let's download something from the web.…Let's say for example, that I want to install Google Chrome.…So I'm gonna go into my web browser,…and I'm gonna do a search for Google Chrome,…and this is just another web browser that I might install.…
It's a good example of a typical application…that you might want to install on your computer.…Okay, so I do the search, I go through my search results.…However you're gonna do it, eventually,…when you find something you want to download install,…you'll see a button like this to download that application.…So let's do that, I'm gonna click on the button to download.…
