- [Instructor] For the most part you do not really need any specific exercise files to work through this course. There are several places in this course where we will need some files to work with and it might be easy for you to just use some documents that you already have on your computer. But if you do not have any documents on your computer and you just need something to play around with to get through this movies, then we've included some files that you can work with. Now for most training courses, I assume that you know how to download files from the web and put them in the right place.
But since many people watching this course are learning macOS from the beginning, I wanna walk you through the process of downloading of downloading the exercise files. We'll also get a bit of a preview of several skills that we'll see later in this course. But, I wanna walk you through step by step for now. First you should go to the webpage for this course. Now I'm not looking at the page for this specific course that you're watching now, but I am looking at the course page for an older version of macOS essential training. On a course page like this, you should see a tab that says exercise files if there are exercise files available for that course.
I will click on that and then there's a link here to download that file. So, you can just click on that and it will take some time and it will download to the downloads folder on your computer, unless you have set some other default destination when you download files. But if you have not changed that setting, they will download to your downloads folder. So now I'm going to go into finder and I wanna go to my downloads folder. I have a shortcut for it here on the sidebar to the left. And I see this folder. Now this is not the exact folder that was on that course page we saw a moment ago, but this is the exercise files folder that we'll be using for this course.
When you download it, the name might be a little bit different, but it should start with exercise files. You can open that up and see several sub folders full of files and documents and pictures you can use as we go through this course. Now when we first start working with these files in this course, they will not be here in the downloads folder, they will be in the documents folder as you see them in the recording. So what I'm going to do is move these to my documents folder. So I'm going to click on the first one, hold the shift key, click on the last one.
Now all four of these folders are selected. And then I can just click and hold and drag them. And I wanna drag them to the shortcut to my documents folder over here on the left. So now when we get to the point where we start working with the files in this course, you can go into finder, into the documents folder, and you will find the contents of the exercise files. And that's all you need to download and use exercise files for any course in macOS.
