It's important that you know how to connect an external drive to your computer. This might mean an external hard drive, a USB memory stick, or even a CD or a DVD. We'll talk about how these drives appear in finder and how to eject them when you're finished with them.
- [Instructor] In this movie, I wanna talk about…connecting external storage drives,…like hard drives, USB memory sticks, and even CDs and DVDs.…And just as important, I want you to be able…to adjust when and where those devices show up,…and I want you to know how to properly…eject those devices when you're done.…So I'm gonna start by connecting a USB memory stick…to my computer.…So to connect an external hard drive to your computer,…there's usually a cable, maybe a USB cable…or a Thunderbolt cable or a Firewire cable.…You just connect one end to the drive,…connect the other end into the proper port on your computer,…and it will connect.…
For a USB memory stick, those are pretty easy.…You just plug the USB memory stick…into the USB port on your computer.…For a CD or DVD, you'll need a computer…with a CD or DVD drive,…and then you just slide it into the drive.…So I'm going to plug in my USB memory stick,…(clicking)…and after a moment I'll see it appear on the desktop.…So there's an icon representing my external drive,…
