Installing fonts with Font Book

With Mountain Lion comes a collection of fonts, or types faces, for both viewing and printing. Apple has offered an application called, Font Book for organizing these fonts in the last few iterations of the Mac OS. Mountain Lion is no different. Here's how Font Book shakes out. We'll launch it from Spotlight, and here is the Font Book window. Now, fonts are stored in a variety of locations on your Mac. They are in the system and library folders at the root level of your hard drive, and within the fonts folder, inside the library folder, which is inside your user folder.

Now in the olden days, you'd drag fonts out of a designated fonts folder or disable them, but you now no longer have to, thanks to Font Book. Here, you see all the fonts that are available to you, and as you can see, we have lots and lots of fonts on this Mac. Now, let's select a font, like Academy Engraved, and you see it have various views. The first one is a sample, so you can see what the font looks like...
