Item masks and overrides
- [Instructor] There is also another commonly used way of applying in MODO, and that's with item masking, which I'll demonstrate now. I'm going to come out of polygon mode to enter item mode, and I'm going to select this wheel, and I'm going to right-click to open the menu. I'm going to select create item mask, and as I do this, just keep your eye on the shaded tree at the top right, 'cause you'll see, when I select create item mask, it's going to create a new group at the top of the shaded tree. And here's the new group and it's named after the item that it's applied to, in this case wheel number four. And you can see it says "item" in brackets after the material. Where as the materials would be applied, say material in brackets, and this gives you an easy way to tell them apart in the shaded tree. So I'm going to select my newly created item mask material in the shaded tree, and I'm going to set the diffuse color to a bright blue. Now one drawback of item masking is that it's a…
